furnaces

If you own a mobile home, you may not be aware that you need to have a special mobile home furnace. Do not worry, they are usually not any more expensive than a regular home furnace, they are simply made differently. You need to be absolutely sure you buy the correct furnace for your home, or else you will be having issues down the road for sure.

A furnace which is made for a mobile home will be designed especially for this. They will have smaller air ducts with sharp, tight, corners. Unfortunately, this means that air does not travel as freely as it would in a permanent home.

You can find these special furnaces made by many of the same companies that make permanent home furnaces, like Trane and Goodman. These do require a different installation than a regular furnace, so be sure to read the directions or call in a professional who knows what he is doing.

A normal furnace cannot be installed in a mobile home due to different venting and ducting systems. Mobile home furnaces use sealed combustion vent systems which are much different than normal home vent systems.

Please remember, that just like other furnaces, these will have an efficiency rating. If you purchase a certain efficiency grade, you may get a tax break on your furnace. In addition to tax savings, a good, new furnace will pay for itself quite quickly in the heating savings.

When shopping for a furnace, make sure that you take into account your climate. If you live somewhere that gets into sub-freezing temperatures in the winter then you will want a much different furnace than a place that only goes into the 40′s.

Make sure to do your due diligence prior to purchasing a furnace. Talk to other mobile home owners and see what types they have and see if they have any suggestions for you. Also call in professionals for free estimates, ask them tons of questions-if the estimate is free then you are under no obligation to buy! Also look online for consumer reports and such to get reviews of different types of furnaces to get a better idea of what you should be looking for.

There are other ways too that you can save money on your heating bills. This includes installing heating tape, wrapping windows in plastic wrap and using alternate forms of heat like wood and pellet stoves.
